Here is the first wooden Mayflower dinghy to be built for over 35 years. Originally built by Skentelbery in Plymouth, Devon, now built in Fowey, Cornwall. This lovely design -14ft long with a gunter rig- was very popular along the south Devon coast, and very well respected for its sailing and rowing abilities, also taking a small outboard very well. Hundreds of people learnt to sail in Mayflowers, and the ferry across the river from Newton Ferrers to Noss Mayo is still an original Mayflower dinghy!
We are pleased to be the new licensed builders of Mayflowers, and have a newly completed dinghy now available, and taking orders for others. Planked in Canadian spruce or Khaya Mahogany, the dinghies are available as either purely a rowing boat, or compete with spars, sails, centreplate and rudder – ready to sailaway. Here are some pictures of the build, and the completed boat. *TIME LAPSE FILM on YOU TUBE* put “Mayflower time lapse” in search box.or click this link http://youtu.be/2VdeC3DOslc
